Mares "on line" at a collection farm
While the NIH study has helped decrease the number of women now taking Premarin or PremPro drug maker Wyeth has developed and is actively
testing a new drug to treat menopause. The drug, named Aprela, has shown favorable results in the initial studies. Current evidence
gathered in the study suggests that the drug may pose fewer risks and milder side effects than Prempro and Premarin, Wyeth’s other
menopause drugs.
Wyeth must submit Aprela to the FDA for approved use. If approved, the drug may provide a better line of treatment
for postmenopausal women. Its marketing would also help the company offset continual losses resulting from its
Prempro suits.

Premarin, a drug prescribed to alleviate the symptoms of menopause, and once believed and to prevent osteoporosis in post-menopausal women is extracted from Pregnant Mare Urine. Premarin works by substituting equine (horse) estrogens for those no longer produced by the human body. Most women who take Premarin are unaware that it's key ingredient, labeled as "conjugated estrogens", is extracted from horse urine! Not only are they unaware of what they are ingesting but they are also unaware of the controversial methods used by pharmaceutical giant Wyeth-Ayerst in the collection of the PREgnant MAres uRINe.
Why is there so much controversy surrounding the Premarin industry and HRT?
For many years the multi-Billion dollar Premarin industry has been extremely successful at keeping the true facts regarding the manner in which it produces and markets its product clouded in secrecy.

The new drug
Aprela contains Congugated Estrogens from Pregnant Mare Urine. So even if Aprela is not as harmful to women
as Premarin or Prem Pro it will still come from the same source...Pregnant Mares. It will still negatively impact the lives
of both mares and foals!
