For the Love of Horses Helps PMU Horses

The need to do more...

After a few years of facing the day to day realization of what a great waste of life would have occurred if it wasn't for the rescue of our two adopted PMU foals, the degree to which they have enriched our lives, and knowing that so many others remain unaware that they could enjoy the same, created within us an overwhelming desire to save as many of these innocent lives. In order to facilitate our life saving endeavors we became For the Love of Horses, Inc. a registered 501(c)3 non-profit charitable organization.

In our first year of operation we proudly placed thirteen foals in loving homes. In 2002 we achieved our greatest rescue to date by saving 80 foals!! While our education and fundraising efforts continue throughout the entire year the rescue of the foals had only been possible in September when they are run through the annual slaughter auctions.

Our primary goal: Educate women about the many alternative HRT medications. By reducing the number of women taking Premarin we can significantly reduce the number of mares and foals destined for slaughter. Our secondary goal: Rehome as many PMU horses as possible; place them in long term, quality care giving homes.

In order to do this we need your help. Our, education and placement efforts can not continue without your support. We are struggling to get the word out about the plight of the horses from this industry, while we struggle to raise money for their care.
